Description

Inspired by old folktales that said olms washed up from subterranean cave systems were the babies of giant underground dragons. Olm dragons take hundreds of years to reach maturity, so big adults are rare, and spend most of their time sleeping underground, seeing one is a once in a lifetime event, but only for the very lucky.

Real olms are also pretty impressive, they take about a decade to reach maturity, and likely grow to be about 100 years old. They have very a slow metabolism and can survive for 10 years without eating!

Image is just a bit bigger than 5" x 7", plus a roughly 1/2" unpainted margin around the edges, which I have left untrimmed for ease of matting. This painting was created to easily fit a standard 5"x7" mat opening.

Watercolor, white gel pen, and graphite on acid free Strathmore Illustration board.

Colors and details are much nicer than what you see on your screen, I did what I could in photoshop to bring it as close to the original as I could, but it's still pretty washed out compared to the original. Painting is not watermarked.

Shipped in a waterproof sleeve, and protected with stiff board. Unmatted and unframed.
